Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting 11-inning matchup where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a combined 51 million viewers across the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English program in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series recorded 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total US viewership was over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and the network’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 different tongues.
